What you can do now to prepare for a possible COVID-19 outbreak

Alameda County residents and visitors should take these precautions to stop the spread of germs and prevent respiratory illnesses:
- Wash hands with liquid soap and water and rub for at least 20 seconds;
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing;
- Refrain from touching your eyes, nose and mouth;
- Stay home when you are sick; and
- Get a flu shot to protect yourself and others from the flu, which has similar symptoms to COVID-19.
Precautionary measures the Zero Waste Youth Convergence will take include:
- Posting hand washing instructions and fact sheets in common areas and restrooms.
- Ensuring soap and paper towels are available in our restrooms.
- Making hand sanitizer available in all our conference rooms.
- Requiring gloves for our caterer, team members, and volunteers handling food.
- Instructing attendees to take precautionary measures to avoid the spread of germs such as greeting others with hand waves and elbow bumps instead of hugs and handshakes.
